Panjgur - The City of Palm Trees


Welcome to antoher blog of Balochistan- The land of Beauty. The place that everyone should visit is Panjguur. This place is known as the place of five graves  Panjgur is a beautiful and historical area of Balochistan. Panjgur is a Persian word which literally means five graves. It is said that there are five historical graves in Balochistan. However history is silent who is buried under these graves. However two of these graves are known as of Shaho Qalandar and Pir Umer Jan. Accoding to the census of year 2017, The population of Panjgur district was 316,385. The main occupation of the people is Farming and Agriculture. The plam dates of this area are considered as Pakistan’s most delightful and well-known palms.

The city is situated in the surrounding of the plam trees and on the banks of Rashkan River is one of the oldest places of Makhran. Very long ago it was known as a great commercial city. Even today, this city is also important in this regard that China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is also passing through this city. Pangjur is located about 555 kms in the southwest of Quetta and takes about 8 hours to reach from Quetta. However, due to lack of attention, these historical places of this city are becoming extinct. We also visit Shrine of Shaho Qalandar. The grave is about 20 minutes drive from city. After Shaho Qalandar, we also visit another tomb which is located at 20 minutes drive from Shaho Qalandar shrine. Nobody knows the history of Shrine


We also visit gardens of Palm Trees. Due to which panjgur is famous. The palm trees drying here due to non availability of water and less rainfall. There are different types of Palms. The highest quality of these palm is Mozati. Other palms are Sabzo, Soor, Rabi, Dandari, and Kaloj. Mozati is most expensive all kinds of palms. The prize of Mozati Palm is from 120 rupees to 160 rupees per kg. The cheapest of all palms is Soore. The price of Soore is 60 rupees per kg. These palms are exported to Karachi and China. The problem that farmers mostly face is nonavailability of water. There is no irrigation system.Everyone should visit these beautiful and historical places
