Sassi was the daughter of king of Sindh. When she was born
astrologers told the king that this girl will be a bad sign for Royal Family.
King put the girl into the wooden box and poured it in the Sindh River. The box
was found by childless launderer at Bhamboore. He considered the girl as a gift
of God and brought her up as her own child.
Pannu was the son of Mir Ali Hoth. And was younger among all
the bothers. When Sassi became older, the stories of her beauty spread far
away. When Pannu heard about Sassi, he became excited to meet with her. For
this purpose, the young prince travelled to Bhambore.
For washing his clothes, he reached at Sassi’s house to her
father. When he put the first glance on the Sassi, he lost his heart in her
love. Sassi also lost her heart in his love. Pannu’s father and brother were
against this marriage. His brohers tried to forbid him and threaten him but
Pannu was not agree in any way. So they
adopted another method. Apparently they agreed on their marriage. And also
participated in marriage where they gave Punno sleep inducing drug.
From which he was unaware of himself They fastened him and put him on camel.
And brought Pannu to the native area.
Next morning, Sassi realized that she was cheated. In
condition of grief and anger she decided to walk on the way of Kach
Mehran. On the journey she travelled
through desserts but she continued her journey. She was constantly crying. In
condition of extreme thirst, she faced a shepherd . Shephered’s intention was
bad when he saw her beauty. Sassi ran away from there and prayed to Allah to
her her.
Allah heard her prayer, the ground burst and she got in it. On
the other day, when Pannu come in his senses. He ran toward the Bhambore. On
the way, he met with the same Shepherd who told him all the details. Pannu
prayed to Allah. Once again the ground burst and Punno enters into it.
Where the ground burst, there is shrine known as Sassi Pannu
shrine. On the entrance of Shrine of Sassi Pannu, On both sides there are flags
of different colors. And the track is going towards shrine. On both sided of
the track there are stones. The width of track is 6-7 feet. Small pieces of
clothes are hanging on both sides of the track. A room is constructed one side
of the track. Near the small room , there is a small gate going to the inner
side of the shrine. Inside the shrine, near the gate, the pitches are placed
for drinking water. The pitchers are of big size. On the other siede, there is
a guest room for sitting. On one side, there is shrine . On the other side
there is a mosque. Outside the mosque, There is a metallic floor and is made of
tiles. On the left side of mosque, there is graveyard. On the surrounding of
graveyard there is a grill. The inner side of shrine is very beautiful. Even today, the lovers come to attend the
shrine to pray for the love to remain forever. The Shepherd grave is also
located Outside the shrine in graveyard who was part of the story and who
attacked Sassi. Most people who visit the shrine are from Sindh. Very few
people come from balochistan or Lesbella. There is stone placed in shrine on
which the Sassi footstep is printed. The Sasssi Pannu Shrine is the place where
every one should visit.
